“How much do glasses generally cost?”
A general cost estimate for glasses is difficult to provide because it can vary heavily based on your prescription, particular eyesight needs, and insurance benefits.
“What will my insurance cover?”
Generally speaking, vision insurance plans provide a percentage 0ff of your material costs and you pay a copay at the end. To get the best quote, please text or call our office and ask to speak with an Optician and we will be happy to assist you.
“Do you take walk-ins?”
We are happy to assist any walk-ins whether it be for a simple adjustment, repair, or purchase. Please expect a wait if you walk-in and try to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to closing time. If you would like to make an appointment with optical you can do so via text or over the phone. Our hours vary so please call ahead if you are unsure of what times we will be closed.
“What lens products do you sell? Do you offer Varilux lenses?”
All of our lens products we offer are made by Essilor. Essilor makes Varilux (progressive/no-line trifocal), Eyezen (digital single vision), Stellest (enhanced single vision for Myopic children) and standard single vision lenses. We also offer many add-ons such as, but not limited to, GenS Transitions and XtraActive Transitions, Xperio UV Polarized lenses, Crizal non-glare coatings and Chemistre-Clips (polarized and non-polarized magnetic clip-on suns).
“How long does it take to have new glasses made?”
Regardless of if you pick out a new frame or use your own, our typical timeframe for new lenses is 2-3 weeks. However, this can vary depending on your lens design, prescription, amount of special parameters and frame wait time. As a general rule of thumb, we expect bifocals, polarized sunglasses and chemistry-clips to take longer (typically 3-4 weeks). Since our lab is out-of-house we unfortunately cannot guarantee an exact wait time, so all of these time quotes are simply estimates.
“Where is your lab based?”
All of our labs that we partner with are here in the USA, with our main one being in Tennessee.
“What warranties do you offer for glasses?”
Currently we offer two warranty options. Our one year warranty ($30) includes three free lens set replacements for scratches or heat damage, a one-time replacement for a broken or worn out frame, free adjustments, and/or part replacements. Our two year warranty ($45) includes all the same as well as 50% off (retail price) a replacement pair of glasses if yours are lost/stolen within 1 year of the purchase. At this time, we are unable to warranty any patient provided frames if they are broken; If we are able to provide adjustments, repairs, and spare parts, we will do so as needed. All warranties include a bottle of cleaning solution and an Elite Eye Care lens cloth as stock allows.
“Can I have my PD measurements?”
At this time, we do not provide the pupillary distance measurement. According to the NC Board of Optometry, the PD’s are considered an optical measurement and are not considered part of the exam or prescription. Since this measurement is to be taken by an Optician, if you choose to take your RX elsewhere to be filled they will take these measurements for you. For more information, please view this document from the NC Board of Optometry.
